Most legal-AI tools generate text and hope it is right. We built LawByHeart on the opposite premise — every citation, summary, and statute reference is verified against source data before it reaches you. Or we say nothing at all.

Why we exist

Indian legal practice runs on precedent, statute, and procedure — three areas where being almost-right is the same as being wrong. We saw the early generation of legal AI ship features that confidently cited cases that did not exist, statutes that had been repealed, and ratios that contradicted the very judgments they pointed to. That is a liability, not a tool.

LawByHeart is a verifier-first legal workspace for advocates, citizens, and enterprises in India. Research, drafting, case management, and online dispute resolution — under one roof, with the same verification pipeline behind every surface.

What this looks like in practice

Citation lookup hits our corpus first; if a judgment is not in the dataset, the result says so. Statute references map IPC to BNS automatically and flag transition periods. Translations are glossary-pinned to legal terminology rather than free-form. ODR awards are drafted, signed via Aadhaar eSign, and stored with audit trails — IT Act s3A and BSA 2023 s66 compliant from day one.

Three operating principles that decide what ships and what does not.

Verifier, not generator

Stanford's 2024 study found commercial legal AI hallucinates on 17–33% of queries. We refused to ship that. Every legal text comes from a verified dataset or returns NULL — never AI-generated. Citations are graded against our corpus before they reach you.

Zero Hallucination Principle

Summaries, ratios, and statute references are sourced from MILDSum, OpenNyAI, and official datasets. If a summary does not exist, we say so — we never invent one. The whole pipeline is built around this single rule.

BCI Rule 36 compliant

No lawyer marketplace, no individual-lawyer advertising, no client solicitation. The Citizen tier teaches rights and enables self-filing. The Advocate tier is a workspace, not a directory. India-native by design.
