Refund Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
This Refund Policy explains when Law By Heart (“we,” “our,” or “us”) issues refunds for subscriptions, per-transaction fees, and add-ons. By subscribing to or paying for any Law By Heart service, you agree to the terms below. This policy is read alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Subscription Plans
SaaS subscription fees (Advocate, Firm, Enterprise) are billed in advance and are generally non-refundable once your billing cycle starts. Two narrow exceptions apply:
- 7-day cooling-off period: If you request a refund within 7 days of your first paid invoice on a new account, we will refund the most recent payment in full provided the account has not exceeded fair-use limits (see Section 3).
- Service unavailability: If the Service is unavailable for more than 24 continuous hours due to a confirmed incident on our side, we will issue a pro-rated credit for the affected days on request.
After the 7-day window, subscriptions are non-refundable for the remainder of the billing cycle. You may cancel at any time to prevent future renewals; cancellation stops the next charge but does not retroactively refund the current period.
2. Accidental and Duplicate Charges
If you are charged twice for the same invoice, charged after a confirmed cancellation, or charged on a deleted account, we will refund the duplicate or erroneous amount in full. Pro-rated refunds are issued for accidental dual-billing where two seats were charged for the same user within the same billing cycle.
Refunds for accidental charges are typically processed within 5–7 business days back to the original payment method via Razorpay.
3. Per-Transaction Services
Some services are billed per-transaction rather than per-subscription:
- ODR filings: Refundable in full only if the dispute submission failed before being assigned to a neutral. Once a neutral is assigned, fees are non-refundable.
- Aadhaar eSign: Non-refundable once the eSign request is submitted to the provider (Leegality / NSDL). If the request fails before submission, you are not charged.
- Translation credits: Non-refundable once consumed. Unused credits remain on your account until used or until the account is closed.
4. Add-ons and Seats
Paralegal seats and other add-ons follow the same rules as the parent subscription — pro-rated when added, non-refundable when removed mid-cycle. Removed seats stop renewing at the next cycle.
5. How to Request a Refund
Refund requests are reviewed within 5 business days. To request a refund, please contact us through our support page and include:
- The email address on the account
- The Razorpay order or payment ID (from your receipt email)
- The reason for the refund request
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Bank processing times after our action vary by issuer; typical settlement is 5–10 business days.
6. Chargebacks
Please contact us before initiating a chargeback. We are happy to investigate any billing concern and most disputes can be resolved within a few business days. Accounts with active chargebacks may be temporarily suspended pending resolution.
7. Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer protection rights you have under applicable law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Where statutory rights conflict with this policy, statutory rights prevail to the extent of the conflict.
8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Refund Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this policy is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Telangana.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or on the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
